Physical signs of depression

If a person has signs of depression wherein they feel mentally upset there are more chances of others paying heed to their problem and helping them, however, if their symptoms are more physical this may be just passed off as aches and pains without getting them treated for the actual problem which is depression. Adults who are depressed are known to suffer from headaches, back ache, pain in the muscles and chest and also with indigestion. Others have a feeling of fatigue and tiredness all the time, while some suffer from sleep disorders and feel the need to take sleeping pills to help them catch up on some sleep. A change in eating habits with absolutely no hunger or binging on foods is also a physical sign of depression.

Those with physical signs of depression are often treated for the symptoms but the underlying problem which is depression is often neglected. Caregivers and relatives who are close to the person should take notice of the condition of the person and assist them with psychological help. Proper timely treatment can save the person from a lot of trauma and also safeguard their general health which does deteriorate with depression. Not everyone who is depressed has the same symptoms and this is what often makes it difficult for others to recognize the problem. Doctors should let the relatives know that there could be a psychological problem which is bringing on the physical symptoms and help the person to get cured of these signs of depression.
