Postpartum Depression Questionnaire

Postpartum Depression is getting quiet common amongst women. It has been observed that around 10 % to 15% women show the symptoms related to anxiety or depression in postpartum period. It is very natural due to the kind of change that has occurred in life.

The Postpartum Depression can be measured by an Edinburgh Post Natal Depression Scale (EPDS). It is a kind of questionnaire that can help you know the signs of depression in you. It was developed in the year 1987.

It contains questions related to your feelings in last one week. It has various kind of questions with four multiple options. The closest option to what you feel can be selected based on your feelings in last one week. It has all questions related to the signs of depression. You have to select one option and at the end of the questionnaire you get the square for each of your reply. This way you can add up the score for all your replies and get your score and derive whether your are suffering from the postpartum depression.

The standard questionnaire contains questions like whether you enjoy things in your life. The replies may range from yes always, yes little, hardly and not at all. There are other questions like of you feel like harming yourself. Another question is asked to know if you feel scared, worried, panicky, sad and miserable for no issues. Such questions being asked in different ways may let you know your signs of depression and help you get yourself treated.
