Signs of a Depression Test

Depression is not same among different people. It varies from one person to another. Due to this not all people suffering from depression show exactly same symptoms or signs of depression. Still there are few basic symptoms and signs of depression that are found common among people suffering from depression. It should be noted that some of these symptoms are also evident during normal lows in life. If the symptoms are more and stronger, and have lasted for long, it is highly likely that you are under depression.

Some of the common symptoms are listed below:

  1. Feeling hopeless: People suffering from depression most often have feelings of hopelessness and helplessness. They tend to be very pessimistic about situations and usually feel that whatever they do, nothing will change and there won’t be any improvements in their situation.
  2. Losing Focus: Interest in day to day activities is completely lost. There is no focus or concentration. They usually withdraw from social activities, hobbies, pastime etc. They would have lost desire to feel happy.
  3. Weight Changes: People under depression tend to lose or gain weight significantly. Sometimes up to 5% of body weight is lost in a month.
  4. Sleep disorders: Most common symptom among depressed people is loss of sleep due to Insomnia. In few cases it can also cause hypersomnia.
  5. Change in behavior: Usually people become highly restless and irritated. The tolerance level goes down to great extent.
  6. Energy loss: They feel fatigued and physically exhausted. Day to day normal activities become exhaustive.
  7. Feeling guilty: Very high emotions of feeling guilty and worthlessness.
