Signs of severe depression

Depression is something which most people go through at some time of their life or he other. Signs of depression vary in degree and some could have a mild form of it while others could suffer with a severe depression. Depression puts the person through a lot of despair and they are unable to help themselves or come out of this situation without help. If it is a mild depression because of a recent incident which has triggered it, the despair and anxiety may disappear after a while, but if there are more underlying causes to this depression then the person needs help. Common symptoms of depression are sadness or low moods, too much or too little sleep, abnormal appetite which results in excessive weight gain or loss, tiredness and fatigue, no libido, an irrational temper with flare ups, panic attacks which bring on anxiety, the person cannot relax or stop worrying and is unable to make decisions, suffers from obsessive compulsive ways and contemplates suicide.

The person is unable to maintain a normal life because of these signs of depression and may loose out on relationships and the job. Those around the person have to understand the trauma that the person is going through and try and help them. If such a person is left to fend for themselves they may end up committing suicide or harming themselves gravely. Severe depression can be caused by a chemical imbalance in the system or even because of the genes.
