Family and friends of persons who are facing signs of depression are always on the look out for ways to help them. If the friends and family care and try to help a depressed person this is half the battle won as caring is the most important thing for someone like in this state. They feel alone and deserted and have to be made to feel wanted so that they can overcome the fears which make them miserable. Most depressed people feel useless and need others to make them feel that they are worth caring about and being wanted by those around them.
The person who is depressed has to help himself too and this can be done by working towards a healing process. If it is the loss of a near one like a friend, a spouse or a pet that is causing the depression this is not something which can disappear suddenly. Allow yourself time to grieve and come to terms with what has happened. The signs of depression will ease slowly though the memory will never fade. No one can really tell you to stop grieving and this is something which you have to handle on your own.
Here again, like in any other kind of depression, it is good to be surrounded by those who are close to you and help you to keep your mind off your grief. Indulge in pleasant activities so that your mind is occupied and you spend time without brooding over your loss.
