Everyone who is suffering with depression may not have the same sort of symptoms. The signs of depression vary from one person to another and depend on the degree of depression that the person is suffering with. If the cause is obvious and the people around the person know what it is then they could also help the person out by being with him or her until they get over their problems or loss. However, if the onset is sudden and the cause is not known then help is required from qualified professionals.
What one should look out for in someone who is not behaving their normal self, is their general attitude which is usually noticeable by the near and dear ones. Depression shows up in many ways, it could be a lack of interest in the surroundings, in what is happening around them, in their own personal health and hygiene.
The person feels anxious and has a hopeless feeling that nothing will go right. There is a physical tiredness which accompanies this along with a pessimism which is constant. Low energy levels affect work and sex life; lack of sleep or too much sleep; loss of appetite or even increased appetite which is not normal; aches and pains which cannot be diagnosed like stomach ache, head ache, body pain and indigestion. Look out for these signs of depression so that the sufferer can be given timely help or such people could even resort to suicide.
